Sustainable Business Transformations
We carry out the transformation of your organization together with you on the basis of Nature’s Intelligence (NI). To design a sustainable, innovative and resilient organization, we make use of unique natural models. Behavioral aspects are crucial during transformations and therefore an essential part of our approach. Nature always makes a trade-off between the energy it takes to change structures and an adaptation towards the desired pattern. We work with the Nature’s Intelligence (NI) Model:
Function = Structure + Behavior
How would Nature's Intelligence solve this?
Nature has many forms of structure, hierarchy, collaboration and leadership. What is not effective does not last in the long run. What does work keeps developing. Organisms and ecosystems use energy and resources efficiently, make use of the knowledge and opportunities available to them and use what other organisms leave behind.
These natural principles inspire the way organizations change. No two organizations are the same, and not every change calls for the same approach. That is why we look at the specific characteristics of the organization, its people, its environment and the task at hand.
Based on Nature’s Intelligence, we determine which principles and change methods fit best. By building on what is already there and aligning change with the natural dynamics of the organization, there is less resistance and more movement.
This way, change is not an imposed process but a development that feels logical, is widely supported and is aimed at lasting results.
Data & Analytics
Collecting and analyzing data to establish the facts
To set a course, you first need to know where you stand. Reliable data is the basis for setting sustainability targets, measuring progress and making well-founded decisions.
In many organizations, sustainability data is fragmented. Information sits in different systems, is not always complete or is still collected by hand. On top of that, it is not always clear who is responsible for collecting, checking and updating the data.
We help organizations bring structure to this. We determine which data is needed, identify the available data sources and map out missing information. We then set up the data structure, responsibilities, definitions and control processes so that information becomes available in a reproducible and reliable way.
Is certain data not yet available? Then well-founded assumptions, benchmarks and reliable estimates can be used. We are transparent about which data has been measured and where calculations or assumptions are used.
The next step is analysis. By collecting data over several periods, you gain ever better insight into performance, developments and trends. Sustainability data thus grows from reporting information into management information for the organization.
Firm of the Future supports you in setting up the data structure and administrative organization and internal control, improving and completing data, recording definitions and specifications, and setting up monitoring and dashboards. With our data-driven approach, standard file structure and monitoring models, we help organizations make sustainability data a structural part of their operations.

The transition model: from ambition to impact
A sustainable transition does not happen in one step. Just as a funnel keeps widening, the movement grows from a clear ambition to an organization in which sustainability is embedded in everyday actions. Our transition model describes that movement in three rings, with implementation as the common thread.
It starts with the ambition and the action plan: a clear strategy that gives direction and defines where the organization wants to go.
Next comes embedding in the organization. With assurance and governance, we define roles, responsibilities and decision-making, and with knowledge and skills we make sure employees can actually carry the change.
The outer ring is transition management: getting people moving by letting them experience, inspiring them, influencing them and communicating clearly. This builds support and makes new behavior second nature.
Implementation runs like an arrow through all the rings, from strategy to impact. This is how we translate ambitions step by step into a sustainable organization and a healthier world.
Sustainable Project Management
Changing naturally: our 5 O approach
Achieving real impact with sustainability takes professional project management combined with subject-matter knowledge. What is sustainable? What information do you need from suppliers? Which alternatives are available? How do you calculate an MKI (environmental cost indicator), for example? And which choices are also feasible from a business perspective?
We combine project management with knowledge of sustainability and business administration. This way we connect content and decision-making with implementation, monitor progress and quality, and make sure agreements and deadlines are met.
In nature, change is a continuous process of developing, adapting and renewing. Based on these natural principles, we developed our 5 O approach – in English: Explore, Evaluate, Envision, Empower and Execute. An approach that translates sustainability issues step by step into concrete, feasible projects.
We start by Exploring relevant trends and developments in the world around us. We then Evaluate which of these matter to the organization and how they fit the vision, strategy and frameworks of the board.
From this insight, we Envision the way forward. We divide the task into clear, achievable steps, working with a horizon of no more than six to nine months. This keeps projects concrete and manageable, and results become visible relatively quickly.
We then Empower the team with a project plan for each step, with clear goals, activities, responsibilities and deadlines. Next we Execute: the plan is carried out and the result is delivered. We evaluate what has been achieved, what we have learned and which next steps are desirable. These insights in turn form the basis for a new cycle.
The result is a natural, continuous change process that combines direction and results with room to learn and adjust. Our 5 O approach provides structure, progress and engagement, and helps organizations realize their sustainability ambitions step by step.
Sustainable Business Models
Sustainability offers opportunities to further develop your business model and target operating model. Think of different revenue models, for example by not selling an asset but leasing it or offering it as a service. What does this mean for cash flow, the expertise of your employees and the materials you use? What options are there for repair and extending product life? Can returned products be reused, or can valuable raw materials be recovered? And what do these choices mean for purchasing contracts, collaboration in the chain and logistics? Looking at these questions together brings new insights and opportunities to connect sustainability with business operations.
We help you get to the bottom of these and other questions and translate opportunities step by step into suitable, sustainable and commercially feasible models.
Sustainable Behavior
A sustainable transformation takes shape when employees, customers and other stakeholders are brought along. Setting the course – the Why – and understanding the current situation are the starting point. Where do we want to go, why do we think this is important, and what does it mean for the organization and the people involved?
In the How, behavior is central. Trust, engagement, encouragement and motivation help make sustainable behavior part of everyday practice. Communication plays an important role here. Which message suits which target group, which communication channel fits, and when is communication most effective?
In the What, ambitions are translated into concrete actions. We look for a good balance between knowledge and skills, communication, behavior and delivery. The result is a practical action plan in which people know not only what the organization wants to achieve, but also how they can contribute themselves.
We are happy to help you develop communication and behavior plans and to apply techniques such as neuromarketing and nudging. This is how we connect sustainability ambitions with behavior and get people and organizations moving.
